Loes Loning
I am a social anthropologist and international development/humanitarian professional with 12 years of work and research experience in Sub-Saharan Africa. I hold a PhD in social anthropology from the University of Cape Town, South Africa.
My doctoral research explored the family relations and social worlds of young people conceived in rape during the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi in Rwanda. My expertise lies in the areas of applied anthropology, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Conflict-Related Sexual Violence (CRSV) and its intergenerational impacts, Child Protection, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), gender, and youth participation.
I have in-country experience in Eswatini, Kenya, Madagascar, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, and South Africa, having worked with UNFPA, UNICEF, and various international NGOs.
